EUROPEAN DIGITAL INNOVATION HUBS PROMOTING THE DIGITAL TRANSITION OF TOURISM AND CULTURAL SECTOR

9 novembre 2022 | ore 11.00 - 13.00

The tourism sector will be greatly affected by the “new normal” in the post-Covid era. It is expected that it will become more sustainable, ethical, cultural, local, experiential and digital. These trends will force the operators to review their entire value chain and redesign their business process, supported by dedicated digital means (artificial intelligence, augmented reality, metaverse, …).
The EDIHs will have a significant role in this process by raising awareness, offering test-before-invest options to smaller operators, and favouring the dissemination of better and effective practices. An innovative approach will also benefit the general public, by providing new means of fruition of touristic locations and cultural events, and extending the options for fragile and elderly people.
During the event we expect a review of the ongoing and planned initiatives and a discussion on blocking factors and options, including regulatory and economic, by participants from both end-users and providers together with the relevant EU and international stakeholders, and the drafting of a consensus paper on how to effectively progress further these matters.

Agenda

  • Presentation and review of best practices and regional experiences in the tourism and cultural heritage industry
  • Discussion on trends, blocking factors, and socio-technical analysis
  • Presentation of an EU-wide initiative led by EDIHs to favour the uptake of digital innovation in tourism
